The Human Clock

The Human Clock is an interesting way to clockwatch. There is a photo of every single minute in the day, and it’s often just a person hoiding up a crude sign or someone has seen a town while out and about and has taken a pic of it.

Flickr Buyout Rumours
Saturday February 26th 2005, 5:35 pm

Flickr: FlickrCentral discusses the rumours of an imminent buyout of the pioneering photo blogging/hosting/social networking thingy, by Yahoo!

Is this the end of lovable Ludicorp as it’s swallowed up by the big boys intent on bending it tpo their evil will, or is the Flickr brand strong enough alone for it to be allowed to live relatively unchanged. Either way Stuart etc, desrve all the money they can get for it for a job well done in pioneering so many different directions of image storage and sharing.

Is this new logo a bit of a joke though? Check out the .gif image’s name.

Ah remember the GMail Goldrush….
Friday February 25th 2005, 10:11 pm

Those hazy days back in April 2004 were stange ones to me. On April 1st 2004 we were almost subject to the ultimate April Fools Joke….get this…

Google were offering an Email service giving away..(just imagine…giving it away)1 gigabye of storage space for every email user.

Scoff scoff went the naysayers, but April 2nd either Google had broken the maxim that foolers beyond midday April 1st became the fools by default, or they were really fucking serious.

I was an early adopter, g=having been one of Bloggers active cusomers that month
and I acheive a brief feeling of that zen-like cool that I was slightly cutting edge in geeky technological terms, (though I wish I sold the 2 invites I’d been given on Ebay for lots of money instead of sending them to my wife, who took it for spam and deleted it.

These days I have the 50 emails just sitting there not being used.

I just don’t know enough people.

Are you like me?

Then check this

isnoop.net gmail invite spooler

Spend 10 minutes sending a few invites to this address which is aloocating them automatically.

A fine waste of the almost release version of Gmail…..it’s probably even part of Googles grand plan. The glorious day of Yahoo/Hotmail status is not long away when you can just sign up to it, but enjoy these final days of gmail mgnaminity in a better way than just letting them sit there.

STAR WARS Episode 3 Picture Spoilers

I’m not sure even I want to see this page but it’s too much of a naughty one not to blog. This is a major plot and stills leak for the forthcoming finale to Star Wars Episode III. It’s very picture heavy and very slow loading and will tell you far more than you want to know about the new movie…but consider this temptation.

How to Destroy the Earth - A Practical Guide

The Earth was built to last. It is a 4,550,000,000-year-old, 5,973,600,000,000,000,000,000-tonne ball of iron. It has taken more devastating asteroid hits in its lifetime than you’ve had hot dinners, and lo, it still orbits merrily. So my first piece of advice to you, dear would-be Earth-destroyer, is: do NOT think this will be easy.

Museum of bad album covers: the worst album covers ever!

I’ve blogged about three of these kind of sites in my time…I love bad album coves but these feature some of the worst even by the standards that have come before.

Here’s a couple of my faves.

The “I wish I’d thought of this scam” award of the day

Save Toby

This guy has hit on a very simple and effective scam to get people to send him money.

He is threatening to slaughter and eat his pet rabbit unless people paypal him 50k dollars. It’s working and he’s already got 14k..jesus…what a money spinner. To drive the message home he is juxtaposing the cutest fluffy bunny pics ever with a page of rabbit recipes. He’s even got merchandising.

My Birthday Blog
Wednesday February 23rd 2005, 2:55 pm

Well, there’s two celebrations this month.and I may as well mention them both now even though the second is tomorrow at 3:30 pm.

Firstly, today is my 29th birthday and Thailand was kind enough to make it a public holiday (actually it’s a celebration of some gathering of buddhists dating back to the time of the buddha’s life.)

The other birthday is Life in the Wor Zone’s 1st birthday which started on the 24th Feb 2004 in exam week. Looking back on that first entry it seems a little confusing, though it seemed I was just looking for something to write and an excuse to juxtapose it with some random image I found.

I should have blogged this next announcement yesterday but was getting far too drunk and posting nonsense on Ajarn Forum, but anyway Ajarn.com got a full page front page feature in the Bangkok Post’s Educational Supplement, The Learning Post. I also featured in a separate section on page four about Ajarn Forum

Who says you can’t get fame by sitting on your fat arse in front of a computer…er..I guess in this day and age thats not uncommon after all.

LEGO.com Make and Create Activites - Junkbot
Excellent little shockwave game that requires some thought. You play a robot who has to pick up all the junk in a factory and you have to move lego blocks to help him acheive this…gets vey complex in later stages.
